The Fish Market is much more than a point of sale: it is a bold commitment to sustainable and community economic development in Culebra. Driven by the Culebra Fishermen's Association, this initiative seeks to reestablish Villa Pesquera—closed since 2009—as an active distribution center for fresh, locally sourced, and responsibly managed fish and seafood.

The idea is simple but powerful: to offer a fresh, traceable, and fair product, both for those who catch it and for those who consume it. With a model based on solidarity organization, environmental education, and partnerships with restaurants, schools, and tourist accommodations.

Fish Market

The Fish Market becomes a concrete solution to several challenges: food insecurity, the collapse of fishing in Puerto Rico, and the lack of opportunities for coastal communities.

We already have rehabilitated infrastructure, licensed fishermen, installed equipment, and signed collaborative agreements. What we need now is the final push: investment to operate, scale, and sustain this project that puts the community at the center and the sea as an ally.

Supporting The Fish Market is supporting food sovereignty, marine conservation, and labor dignity. This project has an anchor, has a rudder, and is ready to set sail.
